2017SP Student Feedback Survey Results
Submitted by Brandon Kishbkish@midmich.edu
The college's mobile-friendly student survey tool was used again this spring semester. The last day to take a survey for 2017SP courses was Friday, August 4, 2017. Anonymized survey results will be available for adjunct faculty to review starting Friday, August 11, 2017. Instructors can visit this URL to access their results: https://evaluations.midmich.edu/instructor Although not all courses were eligible to participate in the student feedback surveys, 453 surveys were taken by students this past semester representing a 38% response rate. Notably, 22% of surveys were taken from mobile devices like phones or tablets.
Full Measure Education App
Submitted by Christine Hammondchammond@midmich.edu

Over the last several months, we have been exploring software packages that can provide our students with easy mobile access to career, curriculum, registration, and payment information and that will also share student choices with advisors, mentors, faculty members, and financial aid staff.

It was a tall order and a real challenge to sort through a mix of product capabilities and vendor promises.   I would like to thank all those who watched demos and provided input, with special thanks to the Guided Pathways team (Professors Bob Elmore & LauraVosejpka, Deans Scott Mertes & Shawn Troy, and Dr. Mike Jankoviak),  the Tech team (CIO Anthony Freds and Director of Programming Brandon Kish), the Student Services team (Ex. Dean Kim Barnes & Director of Advising/Registrar Hank Bryan), and the Advancement Team (VP Matt Miller and Ex. Director Jessie Gordon).

Some of you may have had a chance to test out one of these products when Full Measure Education (FME) brought a 6 ft. smart phone to the Mt. Pleasant campus in April.  I'm pleased to report that we've now finalized negotiations with FME to provide an app and a webpage to achieve the goals described above for MMCC.  If you missed the 6-ft phone, you can checkout the FME product by watching the student demo from Braz0sport Community College.  We believe that this approach will bring the work of the Guided Pathways initiative to life for our students and put Mid ahead of the curve in the state.

Anthony Freds will be leading the implementation team for this project and may call upon you for advice and assistance, especially in the next three months.  One of our first tasks will be to give our package a name.  Brazosport calls its App "BC-Connect."  What are your thoughts for naming ours -- My Mid?  Link to Lakers?  Please send your suggestions to Anthony afreds@midmich.edu.

The Gladwin County Chamber of Commerce would like to thank MMCC for donating the use of the MMCC Children's Train to the first annual Taj Ma-Hog Blues & Rib Fest in Gladwin. The children enjoyed many train rides around the festival which had over 700 attendees throughout the day. It was nice to see quite a few familiar MMCC faces enjoying the Blues of 202 Band of Alger, Chicago band Frank Bang and the Cook County Kings and our headliner Larry McCray. An MMCC employee even participated in our Greased Pig Contest! Thank you again for your contribution to our event, it was a wonderful addition.
