You’ve dedicated yourself to something greater. You’ve sacrificed for something essential.

MMCC recognizes how challenging and exciting this exploration of your future can be. And, we’re here to help every step of the way. We are dedicated to providing outstanding services to help veterans, service members, or eligible family members of disabled veterans achieve their academic and personal goals.

Services for Veterans

Veteran Resource Rep

MMCC’s MI-Vet accredited, on-campus veteran rep understands, not only the programs and support services available to veterans, but the personal experience of military service, because he is an army veteran himself. As your single point-of-contact, he will connect you with both college and VA/veteran assistance and services.

Our veteran representative will—

  • Explain your options for paying for college and assist with completing the necessary forms.
  • Assist you with completing and submitting veteran education benefit forms and joint service transcript requests. And assist you with accessing and establishing other veteran benefits, such as VA healthcare or home loans.
  • Guide you through MMCC’s processes for becoming a student and being successful.

Veteran Resource Center

MMCC’s Veteran Resource Center provides recreational space for student veterans to study and interact with one another. It is located in Room 306 on the Mt. Pleasant campus.

It features—

  • Computers with CAC card readers
  • DAV (Disabled American Veterans) representative sessions for assistance with disability claims
  • Television and comfortable seating
  • Resource materials and information specific to military-connected students and their family member

Student Veterans of America (SVA)

Involvement and Connections

An active chapter of Student Veterans of America provides MMCC students opportunities to engage in activities outside of the classroom. Through SVA, MMCC’s students have gone on charter fishing trips, volunteered and served in community outreach, and formed deep and lasting bonds with their fellow soldiers/veterans.

At the heart of MMCC’s student-led chapter, and in alignment with the national organization’s vision, this group “empowers veterans to be informed consumers of higher education and make the most of the transition to civilian life.” The national organization provides veteran scholarships and training opportunities to support academic growth and degree attainment.
