Admissions Award

These scholarships for $1,000 ($500 fall/winter semesters) are granted to students from local high schools who hold a GPA above 3.0 and attend Mid full-time (12 or more credits/semester). Selection is made in consultation with high school guidance counselors. Admissions Awards are non-need based and must be used for the semester in which they are awarded. Students should submit transcripts with six completed semesters by April 1 in order to be considered.

Ambassador Awards

Recipients will receive roughly $1,000 each year ($500 fall/winter semesters). These two-year awards are distributed to students who will proudly represent the College through active service as college representatives. Recipients will complete service hours that vary depending on their skills but may include giving tours, presenting to potential students, assisting with office tasks, assisting in college events, etc.


Bicknell Family Nursing Scholarship

This $1,000 per year scholarship is awarded to a full-time student pursuing a Nursing degree. Additionally, the student must demonstrate financial need, have a minimum GPA of 3.3, and live in either Clare, Gladwin, or Midland Counties.


Christopher Smith & Estelle Bergy Smith Award

This scholarship provides up to 12 contact hours of in-district tuition depending on fund availability. To be eligible, students must be enrolled full-time in a Technical, Trade, or Occupational program. Awardees may maintain eligibility for an additional three semesters providing a minimum 2.5 GPA was earned on a full-time course load the previous semester. Preference will be given to In-District students and veterans. Preference will be given to students receiving no financial aid—including loans—from other sources. Veteran’s Benefits are not considered “other financial aid.”


Computer Information Systems Academic Scholarship

A $500 ($250 per consecutive semester in one academic year) scholarship will be awarded to a Mid full-time student pursuing an Associates Degree in Computer Information Systems who has a minimum 3.0 GPA and has completed a minimum of 12 Mid credits. Preference will be given, but is not limited to, students from Harrison High School. The student shall receive $250 per semester provided a full-time status and overall 3.0 GPA is maintained.


Dan & Genevieve McDonald Excellence in Nursing Scholarship

This $1,000 one academic year scholarship will be awarded to a Mid student who is enrolled in the full-time Associate in Nursing program. Scholarships will be awarded to student applicants beginning with the highest GPA and then in descending order. At least half of the awards will be given to in-district students.


David Terry Occupational/Skilled Trades Endowed Scholarship

This $2,500 scholarship ($1,250/semester) is awarded to a full or part-time student enrolled in an occupational/skilled trades program. Preference is given to residents of Beaverton.


Elaine Peterson Harris Allied Health Endowed Scholarship

This $500 per academic year scholarship will be awarded to a part-time or full-time Mid student who is planning to pursue any allied health program. Preference is given to a graduate of Marion Schools and students who receive partial or no financial aid. Students must have a 2.0 GPA or GED. Students are eligible to receive this scholarship two years in a row, but they must apply and be selected, it does not renew automatically.


Elizabeth Junemann Horrocks and Jason Arthur Horrocks Nursing Scholarship

This $600 scholarship is awarded to part-time or full-time students enrolled in the Nursing program with at least a 3.0 GPA. This scholarship is awarded for one semester to a single parent – one scholarship is awarded in the Fall and another scholarship is awarded in the Winter.


Ellis VanDeventer Adult Incentive Award

This award is to assist adult students who are not served effectively by the Federal Pell Grant Program but still have a relatively low income and high financial need in the Federal Formula. Most of these students are not coming directly out of high school and therefore have limited opportunities to qualify for traditional scholarships. Awards are made for one academic year and are renewable for one additional year if a student has not completed 60 credit hours. An award of $600 per semester with a maximum of $1200 per year will be made to qualifying full-time students. An award of $300 per semester with a maximum of $600 per year will be made to qualifying students attending at least half-time but less than full-time. Made possible through financial gifts from friends of the College.


Eric C. Schneider Award

This $2,400 award ($600 per semester for up to four semesters), is awarded to a recent Clare High School graduate and a recent Farwell High School graduate with a minimum 2.0 or better high school GPA. Additionally, the candidates must demonstrate some financial need and enroll in an Associate degree program at Mid. This award of $600 per semester is renewable for up to four consecutive semesters provided the student maintains a 2.0 GPA & attends Mid full-time.


Gary L. DeShano Memorial Scholarship

This $2,000 scholarship ($1,000 per semester) is awarded to a CTE graduating senior - or other CTE graduate - with a 2.5 GPA or higher, pursuing a degree in the trades on either a full-time or part-time basis.


Gladwin Automotive Scholarship

This $500 scholarship (awarded over two semesters depending on fund availability) will be awarded to full or part-time students enrolled in the Automotive program with at least 30 accumulated credits. To be eligible, the student must be a Gladwin High School graduate with a minimum 2.0 GPA (GPA should be higher in Automotive classes) and demonstrate financial need.


Hoyle Family Scholarship

This $500 annual scholarship will be awarded to a full- or part-time student from Gratiot or Isabella County with a focus on skilled trades. Recipients must carry a 3.0 GPA and have demonstrated financial need.


Hunting & Angling Expedition Scholars

Hunting & Angling Expedition Scholars participate in experiential learning activities outside of their academic pathway to enhance their education and make connections with industry leaders in the outdoor field. Scholars also receive a $500 Annual Scholarship for 2 years. Visit our webpage for more information about becoming an Expedition Scholar.


Isabella Bank/Cynthia A. Brownson Scholarship for Women in Business

This $500 scholarship is offered to women pursuing an Associate degree in a business-related field and who reside in Isabella or Clare Counties. To be eligible, the student must have a current college GPA of 2.5 or higher. This scholarship is not renewable.


J. Dean & Betty L. Eckersley Scholarship

This $500 per semester scholarship is awarded to a student pursuing an Associate degree in a health-related field. Additionally, the student must demonstrate financial need, have a minimum 3.0 high school or college GPA & maintain a minimum 3.0 college GPA. Preference will be given to students residing in Isabella County & who are full-time students. This scholarship is renewable for an additional five consecutive semesters.


Jack Morse Memorial Science Scholarship

This $500 scholarship is awarded to a full-time student majoring in Chemistry. Criteria is based on GPA.


Jean Willis AAP Scholarship

A $1000 scholarship is awarded to a full-time student who resides in the College's district. The student must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and be majoring in the Administrative Assistant Professional program.


Jerry Freeland Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship is for students in their second year at Mid who have successfully completed two math classes and are planning to take another math class during the semester that they receive the scholarship. Students must have at least a 2.0 GPA to be eligible. There is a $1,000 scholarship available to full-time students and a $500 scholarship available to part-time students.


Jim & Linda Bosink Scholarship

This $2,000 annual scholarship ($1,000 awarded each semester) will be awarded to a resident of Clare County (preferably a recent graduate of Harrison High School) with a minimum 3.0 GPA who demonstrates financial need and is taking courses in math & science, health sciences, business & technology, or skilled trades. This scholarship is renewable for a second year, if applicable.


Kathleen (Kate) Kehoe Named Scholarship Fund

A $1000 scholarship awarded to in-district students from Gladwin. Recipients must have a grade point average of 2.5 or higher but can be enrolled either part-time or full-time.


Laker Distinction Presidential Scholarship

All tuition and fees at Mid for up to 62* credit hours, which is the average for an associate degree, and it is renewable for a second year as long as recipients maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA. Distinguished Presidential Scholars will also receive a $500 stipend each semester to cover their required course books and supplies. Open to graduating Michigan seniors with cumulative GPAs of 3.5 or higher. These competitive scholarships will select recipients based on character, leadership, service, and academic success. Laker Distinction Scholarship

All tuition and fees at Mid for up to 31* credit hours, which is roughly one-half of an associate degree or one year of college at full-time status. It is non-renewable. Open to graduating Michigan seniors with cumulative GPAs of 3.5 or higher. These competitive scholarships will select recipients based on character, leadership, service, and academic success. Mark E. Wilson Scholarship

This $1,000 scholarship ($500 per semester) will be awarded to a student who has a 3.0 high school or college GPA and is a senior graduating from Farwell High School. The recipient must maintain a 3.0 college GPA and be enrolled as a full-time student.


Michael A. Stuart Endowment

The fund provides scholarships of varying levels designated for a full-time or part-time student who is likely to use their education to succeed after graduation. The student must have at least a 3.0 GPA.


Mid Michigan College Retiree's Scholarship

This $500 scholarship provides assistance to academically promising students who are involved in their community and have demonstrated financial need.


Mussell Family Scholarship

Recipients of this $500 scholarship ($250 for two consecutive semesters) must be a student from Michigan who is enrolled in the PTA program full time and has already earned 24 credit hours. This student must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Students who display financial need and meet all other requirements will be considered.


Richard “Rich” Smith Second-Chance Opportunity Scholarship

This scholarship provides up to 12 contact hours of in-district tuition depending on fund availability. To be eligible, students must be enrolling full-time at Mid after a lapse of attendance from any accredited college of at least one major semester (Fall or Winter) and the student must have completed at least 15 credit hours and have a minimum GPA of 2.5. The scholarship can be maintained for up to three semesters total providing a minimum GPA of 2.5 is earned on a full-time course load in the previous semester. Preference will be given to in-district and veteran students. Preference will be given to students receiving no financial aid—including loans—from other sources. Veteran’s Benefits are not considered “other financial aid.”


Suresh Family Endowed Scholarship

To be eligible for this scholarship, students must have already completed 12 credit hours at Mid with a 2.5 or better GPA and display financial need. $500 will be awarded to a student enrolled in one of the following programs: AAS CIS, AS Math and Science, AAS CADD, or AAS AIM. Students must not be a Mid family member or employee receiving tuition reimbursement, a guest student, high school, or dual enrolled student. Preference will first be given to disabled veterans, then veterans, then students with dependent children.


Tandem Family of Companies Academic Scholarship

This scholarship, in the amount of $500 per semester will be awarded to a full-time student in any program from the State of Michigan with a 3.0 GPA or higher. This scholarship is awarded based on merit and financial need. To renew the scholarship for the Winter semester, the student must achieve at least a 3.0 GPA in the Fall semester and provide Financial Aid with documentation of a minimum of 15 hours of community service completed during the Fall semester.


Taylor-Steinbis Health Professions Endowed Scholarship

This $1,000 scholarship is awarded to a student with a 3.0 GPA or above. Preference is given to non-traditional students in the nursing program who are single parents.


WM Skilled Trades Scholarship

This one-year scholarship provides $2,000 ($1,000 per semester) to a full or part-time student in a skilled trades program. Students must have a 2.5 GPA or higher. Preference is given to students living in Harrison or Clare County who demonstrate financial need.
