Registering for classes at MMCC requires a few basic steps. In fact, you may have already completed many of them. The steps are as follows:

New Students

First-Time Students are those beginning their college careers at MMCC, regardless of whether they have just graduated from high school or are entering college as adults.

STEP 1: Get your Financial Aid in order.

If you haven't yet, you should begin this process. It takes a minimum of a few weeks to process financial aid for new students.

File your FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) online at www.fafsa.ed.gov to determine your eligibility for grants, loans, scholarships, and work study.

Be sure that you add MMCC's school code [ MMCC's School Code: 006768 ] to your FAFSA form.

STEP 2: Set up your MidMich Email and Online Account.

You should set up your MMCC online Portal account. Some College departments will begin sending you important information right away. This is your college email and will be used for all college communication.

Please complete the following steps:

  1. Go to midmich.edu.
  2. Click on the Portal link in the upper right hand corner
  3. Click on the Account setup link in the upper right hand corner
  4. Read the information to set up your username and password
  5. Now that you have your username and password,
  6. Click on Login in the upper right corner
  7. Click the Email link in the upper left corner to get your e-mail.

This PORTAL GUIDE will help show you the process of setting up your MMCC account if you still have questions.

STEP 3: Send us your Transcripts & SAT/ACT Scores

If you've graduated from high school within three years, send us your high school transcripts and standardized test scores . If you've attended other colleges, have your college transcripts sent to us as well. If it's been longer than three years since you've graduated, you may need to complete additional placement testing (see info below).

How to send us your transcripts

Send them electronically via Parchment. Visit midmich.edu/parchment and request that an electronic version be sent to Mid Michigan Community College. It's fast, easy, and secure. And if you're still in high school, it's free. If you've graduated, it's only $3.25.

  • Collect them in person, through the mail, or in electronic format. Deliver them to MMCC through any of the following means.
  • Drop them off to an admissions team member at either campus.
  • Email a copy to admissions@midmich.edu
  • Fax Attn: Admissions to 989.386.6613
  • Mail them to us: Mid Michigan Community College Attn: Admissions 1375 S Clare Ave Harrison, MI 48625

How to send us your SAT or ACT scores

When you take the SAT, you can indicate MMCC as a recipient schools. If you have already taken the SAT, you can deliver them in person, email, mail, or fax. Use the contact information listed above.

Or, you can sign in to your College Board account and request that a copy of your scores be sent to MMCC. For more information, visit this College Board page.

Complete additional placement testing if necessary

Appropriate placement in courses promotes student success and allows us to assist students in selecting courses that align with their skill levels. To place you correctly, we'll need this information from you. If you do not have access to one or both of these documents, you may need to do additional placement testing. Your Mid Mentor can help you determine what you need to submit or what testing needs to be completed.

STEP 4: Attend Orientation.

All incoming students must attend an orientation. At orientation, you will connect with other students, learn success skills, and meet with your College support team.

You will also be able to meet with an Academic Advisor who will help you schedule and register for your classes.

If orientations are currently open for the semester in which you're planning to register, you can RSVP HERE.

Guest Students

Stay at your college. Take classes at ours.

If you're enrolled full time at another college or university, you can round out your schedule and save money by also enrolling as a Guest Student at Mid.

Verify You've met Course Prerequisites.

Several courses at MMCC have prerequisites that must be satisfied prior to enrollment in the course. Often times Guest Students have satisfied prerequisites at their "home" college/university. However, colleges/universities do not generally share prerequisite information with one another. So we would have no knowledge if you actually completed a prerequisite for one of our courses at another college/university. This could prevent you from registering through our online system (Midweb).

To verify that you have met our prerequisites, please follow the steps below:

  1. Fax an unofficial transcript from the college/university where you completed the prerequisite course to (989) 772-2386. You may also e-mail the unofficial transcript to enrollment@midmich.edu;
  2. Identify what MMCC course you wish to enroll in, and which course on your unofficial transcript you believe satisfies our prerequisite;
  3. Include your name, MMCC student ID number, phone number, and e-mail address on your correspondence.
  4. Once we have verified that you have completed the prerequisite(s), we will email you a confirmation. At this point you will be able to utilize our Midweb system to register and pay for the course.

Please note that this process may take some time to complete. And our email confirmation in no way guarantees that a spot will be available when you attempt to register. So please follow the steps above in a timely fashion, paying close attention to critical registration timelines.

STEP 3: Arrange Payment.

Students who register prior to the full tuition due date will be expected to pay the Enrollment Fee upon registration ($25 or $50 depending on course load). This fee "holds" a spot for the student in his/her classes. The remaining tuition is due on the full tuition due date. Students that register after the full tuition due date will be expected to pay the tuition in full at the time of registration. The Enrollment Fee and tuition can be paid on MidWeb, in Enrollment Services, or through our Cashier's Office.

Remember that Guest Students are not eligible for financial aid through MMCC. The federal government will only allow you to apply for financial aid through one school per semester and that should be your home school where you are earning the bulk of your credits

Visit either campus' registration clerk to register in-person.

Returning Students

Returning students are those who have attended MMCC before and are enrolling in classes again after a year or more absence. This does not include students who have only attended before as a high school dual enrollee.

Transferring Students

Transferring from another college to MMCC is easy.

Whether you’ve taken a few classes at another institution or you hold a degree, you can transfer your credits to MMCC and work toward an MMCC degree or credential. We have an excellent transfer advising staff who will review your current college transcript(s) and work with you on exactly what courses you’ll need in order to pursue your new plan.

STEP 3: Send us your official Transcripts

Request that an official transcript be mailed to Enrollment Services from each college/university you have attended. Unofficial transcripts will not be evaluated. Transcripts that come to MMCC through student hands are considered unofficial even if they are sealed. You will receive an email from us once your transcript(s) have been evaluated.
