The Charles A. Amble collection is composed of several thousand items for your academic and personal use. The collection includes nonfiction books, reference books, biographies, fiction, paperbacks, records and cassettes, instructional videos, and audiobooks.
The majority of items are housed at the Harrison Campus, however, the Mt. Pleasant Campus offers a smaller collection of nonfiction titles and reference books. Materials can be checked out and returned at both locations.
Searching for books and other materials is easy. Simply click below to access our catalog. From there, you can search by keyword, title, subject, or author.
A red asterisk notes which items are available at Mid. If you would like an item that is not marked with a red asterisk, you may request it using InterLibrary Loans. The 14-digit barcode on your student ID is required to request material from any library.
An InterLibrary Loan is the practice of requesting a book or other item from one library and having it shipped to another library. The 14-digit library barcode number is required to request material, which is found on your Student ID. Material requested through InterLibrary Loans cannot be renewed. Allow 2-3 weeks for books to arrive as they are first mailed to the Harrison Campus before being mailed to the Mt. Pleasant Campus for student check-out.
MelCat Database
The Michigan Electronic Library, or MeL, is a virtual consortium of various Michigan libraries, where Mid students can request books free of charge. Patrons are unable to request AV material through MeL.
To request material through ILL go to the MeL database, by clicking on the logo above From there you will be redirected to the MeL database where you can search by keyword, title, author, or subject. When you find a book that you would like click the Get this for Me! button. It will request you to choose your college and enter your 14-digit barcode. The item will be sent to the Harrison Campus in 5 to 7 days.
You can check the status of your account (Inside MeL Cat) anytime simply by clicking on MyMel.
Enterprise Database
The Enterprise Database, also known as the Valley Library Consortium, or ValCat, connects several local libraries including Mid Michigan College's library. Patrons can request a variety of materials from books to DVDs.
To request material go to the ValCat database. From there you will be redirected to the Valcat database where you can search by keyword, title, author, or subject. When you find a book that you would like click the Request Item button. It will request you to enter your 14-digit barcode and your pin number. Your pin number is the last four of your Social Security Number. The item will be sent to the Harrison Campus in 5 to 7 days.
