Former Mid Michigan College President, Carol Churchill, has been named the featured artist for Mid Michigan College’s 2024 A Northern Tradition fundraising event at Jay’s Sporting Goods in Clare on Sunday, April 14.
A Northern Tradition is Mid Michigan College’s biggest fundraiser. The annual event brings hundreds of people together to support vital needs like scholarships, program development, improved facilities, and student success initiatives.
Carol Churchill served as Mid Michigan College’s President from 2007 to 2014. During that time, she oversaw unparalleled growth and carried out one of the most ambitious construction and renovation programs in the College’s history.
Now an amateur artist, this year’s A Northern Tradition will feature a painting from a series by Churchill that draws inspiration from Cornwell Ranch, a historic property in Clare County. The artwork, named Cornwell Ranch: Carolyn’s View, honors Carolyn Bay, a former Board Trustee for Mid Michigan College.
“We are thrilled with the work Carol did for this year’s event,” said Alexa Carey, Executive Director of the Mid Foundation. “And the fact that she featured Cornwell Ranch and honored Carolyn makes it even more special.”
Attendees at A Northern Tradition will receive an exclusive signed and numbered print of the painting. Churchill will also be in attendance, along with the full series of paintings based on Cornwell Ranch.
In addition to receiving a commemorative print, each $50 ticket entitles attendees to a $35 Jay’s Sporting Goods gift certificate to spend the evening of the event. The store is open only to event attendees, who also receive free food from local restaurants throughout the night. Prizes, silent auctions, and demonstrations round out the evening of fun.
Each ticket is also entered into a drawing for a $1,000 gift certificate to Jay’s Sporting Goods. Tickets are available at Mid’s Harrison and Mt. Pleasant Campuses, Jay’s Sporting Goods in Clare, or online at midmich.edu/ant.
