Witbeck Scholarship Awarded

Each year, thousands of students attend Mid Michigan College.  Over 80% of those students receive some form of financial aid.  Although that aid can vary, scholarships from local donors play a critical role in filling the financial gap for students who need a little help.

The Witbeck Scholarship, sponsored by Witbeck’s Family Foods in Clare, is offered to a resident of Beaverton, Clare, Farwell, Gladwin, or Harrison school districts who possesses either a high school diploma or GED. To renew this award for the second semester, students must maintain a 2.0 GPA or higher and be enrolled at Mid full-time.

“We’ve been honored to help local area students for over 20 years, and strongly believe that if students start college with support from their community they are more likely to achieve their goals,” noted Jerry Witbeck.

Witbeck Scholarship Recipient

Samuel Jackson (Clare) was this year’s recipient of the Witbeck Scholarship and Jerry Witbeck was present to award him with the scholarship. This renewable scholarship provides full tuition for up to 12 credit hours, fees, and required textbooks at the College.

“The Witbeck’s have helped many Mid students with this scholarship, and we are fortunate to have community members like the Witbeck’s whose contributions make education more accessible,” said Alexa Carey, Interim Executive Director of the Mid Michigan College Foundation.

Gifts to the Foundation can provide much-needed scholarships to deserving students.  The Foundation also sponsors select events, funds the Students of Promise program, and provides resources for campus initiatives.
