Intermediate Artistic Welding is open to individuals who have successfully completed Mid’s Beginning Artistic Welding and would like to further their welding skills! Students learn advanced MIG welding techniques, TIG welding methods, and develop the art of plasma cutting with expert instructor David Sanderson. During this five-week-long class, students develop the skills needed to further explore their artistic ideas by creating a work of art. A great way to bring old tools, collected junk, and yard sale finds back to life.
All welding clothing is provided by Mid. Students should wear long sleeves, long pants, closed toed shoes, and a baseball-style hat to class.
Students provide many of their own items for welding on the second week of class, the Instructor provides additional details at the first class.
About the Instructor
David Sanderson has over fifty years experience in teaching others how to weld. Sanderson was instrumental in the founding of Delta College’s welding program, working there for a number of years before coming to Mid. His strong background in the field of art includes pyrography art, teaching for both Hobby Lobby and Michaels Arts and Crafts, voted Artist of the Year from the Michigan Wood Carvers Association for three years, and other outstanding accomplishments. Students receive excellent welding instruction and creative direction in the design and development of their artistic project.
