Tickets are now available for A Northern Tradition, Mid Michigan College’s annual fundraiser, which is planned for April 10 at Jay’s Sporting Goods in Clare. More than $1.7 million has been raised through this event over the last 20 years, benefiting the Mid Michigan College Foundation.
Mike Avery will serve as the honorary host at the event. Mike Avery is a long-time Michigan-based broadcaster with more than forty years in the business. Mike is a strong advocate of the outdoor lifestyle. His three-hour weekly Outdoor Magazine radio show promotes the history and tradition of hunting, fishing, shooting, and trapping. Mike has the most popular outdoor radio show in the state with more than thirty affiliate stations. He also has a very strong following on social media.
This year’s commemorative art features photography by featured artist Steve Jessmore. Jessmore is a 30-year photojournalist, five-time Michigan Photographer of the Year, Robert F. Kennedy Photojournalism awardee, and former Chief Photographer of the Flint Journal. He is an avid outdoor photographer with a love for all wildlife, especially birds. In 2021, two of his bird images swept the professional division of the national 2021 Audubon Photography contest, winning 1st place and honorable mention.
“This year’s event represents a welcome return to Jay’s Sporting Goods,” said Tom Olver, Executive Director of the Mid Michigan College Foundation. “We’re thrilled to offer a tremendous experience for our attendees.”
Each $75 ticket, provides the attendee with a $25 gift certificate to Jay’s Sporting Goods and a commemorative art print or note card set. Attendees will also enjoy refreshments from local restaurants, chef-crafted wild game tastings, creative mocktails, various desserts, and live music by Full Cord Bluegrass.
