The presentation by Dr. Kovan, scheduled for Monday, October 26th at 7pm on MMCC’s Mt. Pleasant campus, has been cancelled.

Unfortunately, Dr. Kovan has an unexpected family situation that he must attend to. We are working with him to reschedule the event.

Mid Michigan Community College (MMCC) will host Jeffery R Kovan, DO, Team Physician at Michigan State University (MSU), on October 26th at 7PM for a presentation about his work with MSU athletes. He will also describe his recent experiences as a physician for the 2014 Paralympics in Sochi, Russia.

Kovan’s presentation, which is free and open to the public, will take place at 7PM in the Community Room on MMCC’s Mt. Pleasant campus.

Dr. Kovan received his undergraduate and medical degrees from Michigan State University. He was Director of Sports Medicine at MSU-KCMS from 1991 to 1995 and also served as the Director of Sports Medicine at Michigan State University. Dr. Kovan is a Team Physician for MSU Basketball, Soccer, Track, and Softball. He also volunteers at the Playmaker’s Injury Clinic.

Sports Medicine is a rapidly growing career path in health care, encompassing physicians, physician assistants, physical therapists, athletic trainers, and nurses. Sports medicine focuses on preventing and treating sports related injuries as well as improving movement and performance among athletes and all those who look for more effective exercise programs. The field also seeks to help disabled patients expand their physical capabilities.

This is the first presentation in MMCC’s new Ronald G. Verch Visiting Scholars Speaker Series. The College anticipates hosting future speakers who will share their life stories or unique experiences.
