From student clubs and organizations to club-based and varsity athletic teams, Mid Michigan College is committed to providing a wide variety of ways for students to get involved and continue their interests as they pursue their educational goals.
In addition to an already impressive list of nearly 30 student teams, clubs, and organizations, the College’s new bass fishing team will begin competition in the summer of 2022.
“We’re excited to launch this team that so closely aligns with the traditions and hobbies of those who live and learn in our region,” said Ryan Harkrader, Athletic Director at Mid. “This opportunity will appeal to many of our students and we’re all eager to see them get started.”
The new team will compete as an official club team in competitions across the state. A typical season will put students on the water from March through October with the opportunity to participate in three tournament tracks, Bassmaster, Major League Fishing, and the Association of Collegiate Anglers.
“The College is currently recruiting a coach for the team who will instruct and motivate team members while coordinating tournament competition,” noted Harkrader. “This is a great opportunity for someone with experience and knowledge to pass it down to a new generation of anglers.”
Sponsors to assist with the purchase of equipment and tournament travel costs for students are also needed.
