Lifelong Learning: Exploring and Monitoring Vernal Pools

Harrison Campus | Room 275

Do you have a wet area on your property that dries up in the summer months? Do you enjoy the chorus of frogs each spring? If you answered yes, then you probably have a vernal pool!
$10 per family (appropriate for kids 7 and up)
This three-hour workshop will provide an overview of vernal pool ecology, their importance to the landscape ecosystem, and teach you how to identify the macro-invertebrates and egg masses found in the pools.

Lifelong Learning: Kirtland Warbler & Evening Grosbeak Discovery

Mt. Pleasant Campus - Grayling - Hartwick Pines

Don't miss this fascinating trip to the Kirtland's Warbler breeding area near Grayling! View one of the rarest birds in the world in its northern Michigan breeding habitat as you stroll approximately two miles.

A visit to Hartwick Pines State Park concludes the day with a chance to view the birds of an old-growth white pine forest along a one-mile paved trail. Be prepared for mosquitoes and black flies. Sunscreen recommended.
