VA Documentation Steps
Apply for your Letter of Eligibility for VA Educational Benefits at the Veterans Online Application Website
It’s important that you retain a copy for your records.
When education benefits are approved, the VA will mail you a certificate of eligibility. This will take approximately 6 to 8 weeks. This certificate is issued only once, and it will indicate the number of months you are eligible for benefits. A copy of this notification must be provided to the financial aid office at MMCC.
To collect your educational benefits, you must be enrolled in a degree-seeking program. Upon completion of verification of enrollment, classes will be certified and sent electronically to the VA Office. Afterwards, you will need to verify enrollment monthly.
You may need to request the following documents as well:
DD214 (Military Service Records): If you need to request a copy of your DD214, visit www.archives.gov/veterans/military-service-records/
Military Transcripts: Visit the respective website to request your transcripts: https://jst.doded.mil/official.html

Complete additional placement testing if necessary
Appropriate placement in courses promotes student success and allows us to assist students in selecting courses that align with their skill levels. To place you correctly, we'll need this information from you. If you do not have access to one or both of these documents, you may need to do additional placement testing. Your Mid Mentor can help you determine what you need to submit or what testing needs to be completed.
STEP 4: Attend Orientation.
All incoming students must attend an orientation. At orientation, you will connect with other students, learn success skills, and meet with your College support team.
You will also be able to meet with an Academic Advisor who will help you schedule and register for your classes.
If orientations are currently open for the semester in which you're planning to register, you can RSVP HERE.
