Transfer Checklist

We've compiled this helpful checklist so you don't miss any important steps as you plan to transfer from Mid to the college or university of your choice.

Ready.

Prepare in advance so that your transfer goes off without a hitch.
Meet with your Mid Michigan College Academic Advisor.
Ask about 2+2 and 3+1 Programs (articulation agreements) and transfer guides.
Compare and contrast the schools you would like to transfer to by reading their websites and/or catalogs.
Confirm that the schools you have chosen offer your desired program of study.
Explore transfer school procedures and deadlines.
Note transfer school tuition rates and fees.
Decide on your transfer school of choice (it may be helpful to have a second choice, just in case).
Contact your transfer school’s admissions office or advisor and ask for application deadlines, available scholarships and deadlines, how courses transfer, program information, housing availability, and schedule a campus tour.
Visit your transfer school’s campus by scheduling an appointment, attending special transfer days, and/or taking a virtual tour.

SET.

Stay in touch with your transfer team while you're at Mid.
Meet often with your Mid Academic Advisor and transfer school advisor.
Create a timeline for submitting your transfer school application, submitting scholarship applications, and requesting official transcripts from Mid and each school you have previously attended to be sent to your transfer school. Your transfer school may also require other documents such as AP or CLEP scores.
Discuss Michigan Transfer Agreement (MTA) completion, graduation, and reverse transfer options with your Academic Advisor at Mid.
Apply for financial aid and/or scholarships at your transfer school.
- If you are transferring mid-year with an existing FAFSA, correct your existing FAFSA online by adding your transfer school’s code.
- If you plan to start at your transfer school in the fall, complete and submit a FAFSA application as soon as possible and check your transfer school’s deadlines for specifics.
Notify Mid of your transfer so that future financial aid is assigned to your transfer school.
Follow-up with your transfer school to ensure they received all required documents.

TRANSFER!

You're ready to transfer and continue your education at your transfer school.
Review the acceptance notification from your transfer school and confirm acceptance.

Activate your transfer school’s email and check it often.
Inquire about additional student support services.
Register and attend courses. (Woo Hoo!)
