Jan Noteboom, MHA/Ed., CMA (AAMA)
I am the Faculty Coordinator of Allied Health/Medical Assistant Program Director/Full-time Faculty member at Mid Michigan College. The position gives me a wonderful opportunity to serve the students and the College. I have 13 years of experience in various areas of health care and have been an educator at Mid for nine years. I am a Certified Medical Assistant credentialed through the American Association of Medical Assistants since 1998. My healthcare experiences include patient assessment and care, following set guidelines for the American Association of Medical Assistants, State, and private rules and regulations. I received my Bachelors in Business Administration-Management from Northwood University and my Master’s Healthcare Administration/Education from the University of Phoenix. I have currently taken on the role as a Medical Assisting Education Review Board (MAERB) Site Surveyor for accreditation/reaccreditation activities. This allows me to review other Medical Assisting Programs and travel to other colleges around the country.
With my medical background, MAERB Site Surveyor training and service-orientated approach, my focus is to help students, staff, and faculty meet their needs and gain a high-quality secondary education. I have a genuine respect for people and consider myself an Educator dedicated to quality performance, display enthusiasm for my work and responsibilities, and professional integrity
Karen Mercer, MLS (ASCP), MSA
Member of Safety and Infection control Committees with responsibility for teaching and competency assessment. My duties as medical laboratory testing personnel include training of new phlebotomists and other testing personnel. MidMichigan Medical Center - Clare 10 years. My duties as assistant laboratory supervisor included training of not only new hires, but Physician Assistant externs from CMU and MA externs from Kirtland Community College. All of the clinic's nurses and doctors were required to do a one day rotation through the lab as well. Northern Michigan Health Services - 5 years. Attends professional development at MidMichigan Community College - 4+ years. Bi annual Medical Assistant Advisory Committee...Curriculum and Program - 4+ years. Development and adjunct instructor of online Medical Terminology.
Susan Heber, RHIA
Manager, Health Information Management Outpatient Coding for MidMichigan Health. I have been working at MidMichigan Health since August of 1977. I have a Bachelor of Science degree from Ferris State University in Health Information Management. I have worked in every area of Health Information Management and I am also the Privacy Officer for Clare and Gladwin. I am certified by the American Health Information Management Association as a Registered Health Information Administrator and also certified to teach ICD-10-CM. I have been closely involved with the adoption of the Electronic Medical Record for MidMichigan Health and was also the trainer for the Cerner system.
Pamela Hansen
I am a Medical Technologist also known as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist and have been working in healthcare since 1997. As a member of the health care team, I work in the laboratory and provide patient care through the performance of a wide variety of testing and procedures in the areas of clinical chemistry, hematology, microbiology, immunology and immunohematology (blood bank). I attended Central Michigan University and earned a Bachelor of Science with a major in biology and minor in chemistry. I completed my training as a Medical Technologist at Hurley Medical Center's School of Medical Technology and became certified through the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP). I recently began teaching in the Allied Health department at Mid and hope to be able to share my experience to help educate and prepare students with aspirations to have careers in healthcare.
