Tax Info (1098-T)
Mid Michigan College provides students with an annual tuition statement (also known as a 1098-T) which shows qualified tuition, enrollment fees, and related expenses which were billed in the calendar year. A copy of this statement is also provided to the Internal Revenue Service.
The 1098-T statement provides information about educational expenses that may qualify the student -- or the student's parents or guardian, if the student is still a dependent -- for a tax deduction or education-related tax credit.
View your tax forms electronically!
1098-T forms are now able to be viewed and printed through MidWeb. You can also view previous year’s forms on this site.
Login to MidWeb and in the left hand icon menu click Finaincial Information and then Tax information. You can then select to view various tax forms, including the 1098-T electronically.
If you wish to receive your 1098-T through electronic format only, please make this selection no later than January 23. Please note, if you require a paper form to be mailed to your address on file do not make this selection. Paper forms will be mailed by January 31.
It is the responsibility of the student to ensure their records are up to date and as accurate as possible. If there is an error on the 1098-T or in your student records, please contact the Business Office to have the errors corrected. Be sure to have all necessary documentation and proper identification when attempting to correct an error. A valid ID and Social Security card must be presented in order for a student's Social Security number to be changed.
Availability & Schedule
The college mails 1098-T forms at the end of January.
You can opt to access your 1098-T online to receive it more quickly than traditional mail. Students will receive an email at their MidMich email address in mid-January when the 1098-T forms are available to download.

You must log into MidWeb to access the electronic consent form. Please know that by selecting electronic delivery, you agree to receive your official 1098-T only in an electronic format.
CHANGES FOR 2018
Previous to 2018, your 1098-T form included the total amount of qualified tuition and related expenses (QTRE) billed to your student account for the calendar (tax) year in Box 2. Due to a change to institutional reporting requirements under federal law, beginning with tax year 2018 the QTRE amount now appears in Box 1 and represents the amount of QTRE you paid during the calendar (tax) year.
The 1098-T provides INFORMATION ONLY and may not contain all the details needed to claim education tax credits. Receiving a 1098-T does not indicate eligibility to claim an education tax credit.
IRS Publication 970 (2017) page 2 states, “When figuring an education credit, use only the amounts you paid and are deemed to have paid during the tax year for qualified education expenses... However, the amounts on Form 1098-T, [box 1], might be different than the amount you actually paid and are deemed to have paid.”
Hence, the amount reported in Box 1 on the 1098-T is not used to validate or reconcile the amount reported on a taxpayer form. Taxpayers should use their own financial records and receipts to determine the amount of QTRE paid during the calendar (tax) year and the total of grants and scholarships received.
