Official Course Description

The public health internship provides the student with the opportunity to observe, participate with, and learn under the supervision of public health professionals to be prepared to function as a community health worker and/or assist health education specialists and officials to meet the needs of priority populations. Opportunities exist at the local, state, and national levels in public health departments, health care settings, voluntary agencies, and worksite/industrial sites. Prerequisites: HED.106, HED.110, HED.111, HED.120, HED.121, and HED.122 Corequisites: HED.203, HED.252, and HED.285.
