Official Course Description

This course is designed to provide students with a variety of opportunities to learn developmentally appropriate methods and theories of guidance, both direct and indirect, in working with young children. In addition, the course will examine all aspects of the early childhood setting, including physical arrangement, curriculum development, positive atmosphere, and age and interest groupings. Evaluation techniques to assess child and program progress will be examined. 30 labs hours in a Department of Human Services (DHS) licensed setting are required. ENG.111 is highly recommended prior to enrolling in this course. Prerequisites: ECE.113 and ECE.114
