INDIGENOUS LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT STATEMENTS
Mid Michigan College honors and recognizes the Anishinaabe people, whose ancestral lands Mid stands upon today. We acknowledge the members of the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe, who have resided on this land for more than 200 years. To recognize the land is an expression of gratitude and appreciation to those upon whose territory we now reside.
If you would like to recognize this acknowledgment in your communications, at campus events, or at other College functions, use one of the statements below or connect with the College's Strategic Communications team for assistance with the creation of your own statement.
- We would first like to acknowledge that we are here on the ancestral lands of the Anishinaabe people who remain our ongoing neighbors, and in the proud spirit of collaboration and celebration say, Boozhu and welcome.
- Today we gather on the ancestral lands maintained for generations by the Anishinaabe people, the indigenous inhabitants of Michigan whom we continue to partner with today here at Mid Michigan College.
