As part of Mid Michigan College’s effort to empower, support, and connect with local communities, the College will be hosting a tailgate event and scholarship giveaway at the Gladwin vs Farwell varsity football game on Friday, September 13 at Gladwin’s Brokoff Field.
College representatives will be at the field starting at 6pm with free refreshments, generously supplied by SpartanNash, and giveaways.
“We want to encourage community members to attend the game, support local student-athletes, and connect with Mid Michigan College,” explained Scott Mertes, Vice President of Community Outreach and Advancement.
During the game, two students from each participating high school will compete in a fun, interactive scholarship giveaway contest. Each team of two will stand 15 yards apart with one student throwing 10 Mid Michigan College footballs and the other attempting to catch them in a basket. Both members of the winning team will receive a $500 scholarship to Mid Michigan College. The remaining two participants will each receive a $100 gift card to the Mid Michigan College Bookstore.
Gladwin and Farwell high school students can enter the contest Monday, September 9 through Thursday, September 12 at midmich.edu/team-toss-challenge or by scanning the featured QR Code with their smartphone.
“The College has always been a community partner and is increasing efforts to support local communities across mid-Michigan. Mid’s mission is to develop knowledge and ability to empower learners and transform communities. In addition to serving nearly 5,000 students from the mid-Michigan area, we partner with a variety of local organizations including employers, service organizations, and community groups to help achieve this mission,” noted Mertes.
