Beginning in the Fall of 2018, Mid Michigan College students began earning industry recognized certifications as part of their Automotive Technology, HRA (Heating, Refrigeration, Air Conditioning), and Advanced Integrated Manufacturing (AIM) programs.

These industry recognized certifications were developed by NC3, the National Coalition of Certification Centers, along with colleges, technical centers, and industry partners such as Trane, Fiat Chrysler, Snap-on, Dremel, Greenlee, and others.

During the Fall 2018 semester, Mid awarded nearly 120 NC3 certifications to students. These certifications include Snap-on Shop Key & Scanner Diagnostics for Automotive Technology students, Snap-on Multi-Meter certifications for HRA students, and Starrett Precision Measurement (PMI) certifications for Advanced Integrated Manufacturing students.

“These third-party, industry-recognized certifications differentiate Mid students as they apply for new jobs or look to advance in their current roles. This effort reflects Mid’s commitment to increase competency based learning in our Skilled Trades programs,” noted Shawn Troy, Dean of Career & Workforce Development at Mid.

Students who earn these certifications will soon see them appear on official Mid Michigan College transcripts—another step the College is taking to prepare students for success in their future endeavors and the ever-changing demands of the modern workplace.
