Do you work in the retail marketplace? Are you an entrepreneur looking for that elusive competitive edge? The Retail Success Academy, offered by Mid Michigan Community College (MMCC), is a multi-day workshop featuring in-depth retail training across a range of topics.

This program is designed to give retail store owners and managers the tools necessary to compete and grow in the retail marketplace. Successful completion of the course grants the retailer certification as a Retail Success Master, a designation that recognizes excellence in marketing and the recruitment and retention of talent.

Topics covered in the training include Foundations of Success, Marketing & Advertising, Creating Competitive Advantage, Retail Math, and Hiring and Training.

The Retail Success Academy is presented by Phil C. Wrzesinski. Phil honed his entrepreneurial skills running the largest independent toy store in America from 1993 through December 2016, while also starting a weekly radio show, monthly magazine, and successful speaking career.

Phil describes the program as an entertaining way to learn life lessons related to retail. “This isn’t academia. This is tried and true retailing lessons from a small business owner who lived it, used it, tweaked it, learned from it, and used it some more. This is the best of the best from an entrepreneur whose retail store was named “One of the 25 Best Independent Stores in America” in the George Whalin book RETAIL SUPERSTARS (Penguin 2009).”

Class is scheduled 8am-Noon for five consecutive Thursdays. January 18, 25 and February 8, 15 will be held at Jay’s Sporting Goods in Clare. The class on Thursday, February 1 will be held at Four Leaf Brewing in Clare. The course requires a $1,300 investment by participants and includes all course materials.
