Registration for the summer semester is now underway at Mid Michigan College. Summer semester courses begin May 18, 2020 through remote-delivery options only. Lab courses may begin on that date, but no face-to-face labs will be available prior to June 29.

“All of us at Mid Michigan College know that staying healthy and safe are top priorities during this difficult time. That’s why the College continues to expand the number of courses, programs, credentials, and services that are available remotely via online delivery methods,” said Karry Kiste-Toner, Assistant Vice President of Student Success at Mid. “From getting one-on-one help registering for courses to guidance on how to edit an essay, our teams are ready to help students every step of the way.”

Mid is offering a wide-array remote learning summer courses, and many of the College’s programs and credentials can largely be completed online. Remote courses are delivered in traditional online formats and also through real-time virtual technologies, like Zoom. All of Mid’s remote delivery methods provide students with an engaging, dynamic learning experience.

Students who need assistance can now meet with Mid team members remotely using tools like Zoom and Google Meet. Plus, a live chat is now available throughout Mid’s website, allowing students to connect with knowledgeable team members who are ready to help.

“Students can also feel assured that Mid isn’t just focused on their academic achievements, we see them for the complete individuals they are—with family and friends who are all being affected by the COVID-19 situation,” noted Toner.

Mid offers a wide-range of these support services, including a food pantry where students can receive non-perishable food items, a wellness team that connects students to local resources, a student-veteran representative, career center, and more. These services remain available for students through remote means.

A recently launched online orientation for new students is also available to help students prepare for success at Mid from the comfort of home.

“Our expanded remote educational and service offerings reinforce our dedication to providing an accessible, affordable education and personalized service, even when the situation forces us to do that at a distance,” explained Toner.

All incoming students are paired with a Mid Mentor who guides them through the registration process and works one-on-one with them until graduation. This personalized approach includes assisting students in course selection and creating an educational plan based on each student’s individual goals.
