Mid Michigan College is an approved provider of related technical instruction (RTI) through the State of Michigan Department of Labor. Mid's Technical Education Centers offer online classes that meet the State's standards and education requirements for Electrical Apprentices (EA).

“Now is a great time for electrical companies to have their employees start their classes toward a journeyman’s license and meet training requirements,” noted Scott Govitz, Associate Vice President of Workforce & Economic Development at Mid.

Electrical Apprentices are required to complete 144 hours of training per year until they have attained the 576 hours required by the Electrical Apprenticeship Bureau and the Department of Labor.

Each Electrical Apprenticeship class counts as 5 training hours. A minimum of 29 classes yearly is required to meet State requirements. EA classes are online, can be completed at a comfortable pace for each student with no due dates or deadlines, and require a written exam proctored by College personnel that can be scheduled at the students’ convenience. Each class costs $100 and payment is due at the time of registration.

Upon successful completion of the Electrical Apprenticeship class series, students are awarded a certificate of completion by Mid Michigan College.

“I’m thankful for the people at Mid who helped me succeed. From letting me use a proctor for testing to staying late so I could take my tests after work, they were always willing to go above and beyond. And I’m proud of myself for making it through the program while working full-time... I always tell people to remember that the time spent studying, when you would rather be doing other things, pays off in the end with a rewarding career,” noted Chris Millard, a recent Mid EA student.

Registration for Mid’s online EA classes is always open. Individuals interested can apply at
