The 20th annual A Northern Tradition, a fundraiser for Mid Michigan College sponsored by Jay’s Sporting Goods, will be held from 5pm-8pm on Sunday, April 16 at Jay’s Sporting Goods in Clare.
This year, the event will host special guest Brock Gutierrez, a CMU and NFL alum. He will be greeting guests, sharing stories, and signing autographs.
Gutierrez was a three-year starter who was named the All-Mid-American Conference First Team Center in 1995 and helped lead the Chippewas to the 1994 MAC title. He had a 10-year career in the NFL playing for the Cincinnati Bengals (1996-2002), San Francisco 49ers (2003-2004), and Detroit Lions (2005).
“We’re so excited to have Brock join us at this fun event,” said Matt Miller, Vice President of Advancement at Mid. “He has a lot to share and he will be another exciting part of this unique event.”
This fundraiser has raised more than $1.7 million over the last 19 years, benefiting the students at Mid Michigan College. Proceeds from A Northern Tradition support vital needs like scholarships, program development, improved facilities, and student success initiatives.
Tickets to the event are just $50 each. Ticket holders will receive a $25 Jay’s voucher to spend that night in the store. The store is open only to event attendees, who also receive a print by renowned artists and free food from local restaurants. Prizes, silent auctions, and demonstrations will round out the evening of fun.
Tickets are available at Mid’s Harrison and Mt. Pleasant campuses, Jay’s Sporting Goods in Clare, or online at midmich.edu/ant.
“We’re looking forward to making the 20th A Northern Tradition one of the best ever,” said Miller. “We’re so grateful for the community members and local businesses who step up to support higher education.”
