Tickets are now available for A Northern Tradition, Mid Michigan College’s annual fundraiser, which is planned for April 19 at Jay’s Sporting Goods in Clare.Last year, more than 550 people attended the event, helping the College raise more than $150,000.More than $1.7 million has been raised through this event over the last 18 years, benefiting the Mid Michigan College Foundation.

Jerry Dennis will serve as the special guest at the event. Dennis is a native of northern Michigan and has earned his living since 1986 writing about fishing, hunting, nature, and the Great Lakes for such publications as Field and Stream, Outdoor Life, and The New York Times. Among his many honors are the Michigan Author of the Year Award and four best-book-of-the-year awards from the Outdoor Writers Association of America. He and his wife, Gail, live near the shore of Lake Michigan not far from Traverse City, Michigan.

This year’s commemorative art features a short-eared owl, created by featured artist Anni Crouter. Crouter started painting and drawing early on and was inspired by the many animals that inhabited her family farm and her father’s veterinary practice. Her work can be seen in national and international trade journals, art galleries and businesses in several states, and in the homes of private collectors. She is married to Dr. Nathan Boggs, DVM and resides in Flint, Michigan.

“This year’s event will be unique,” said Tom Olver, Associate Vice President of the Mid Michigan College Foundation.“We’re thrilled to welcome Jerry Dennis and Anni Crouter, while offering a tremendous experience for our attendees.”

Each $50 ticket, provides the attendee with a $25 gift certificate to Jay’s Sporting Goods, a commemorative art print or note card set, and a chance to win a $500 gift certificate to Jay’s. Several area restaurants and local caterers also will be in attendance, serving complimentary appetizers, wild game inspired dishes, and desserts.
