Mid Michigan College is expanding access to educational opportunities in Huron and Tuscola counties with career-ready and transfer-focused associate degrees, short-term training, and online options.

“We’re excited to increase the number of courses, programs, and training opportunities available to the residents of Michigan’s thumb region,” noted Scott Mertes, Vice President of Community Outreach & Advancement at Mid.

The programs, pathways, and courses offered at both intermediate school districts are highly-transferable. As a participant in the Michigan Transfer Agreement (MTA), Mid offers a block of classes, equaling 30 credits, that fulfill the general education requirements at Michigan universities and are guaranteed to transfer to most Universities across the State.

Mid’s Liberal Studies and Business Studies Transfer Associate Degrees can be completed with a combination of face-to-face and online (or 100% online if desired) and allow students to transfer over 60 credits to their ideal four-year university program.

Mid’s career-ready programs and pathways allow students to gain knowledge and skills in high-demand careers including medical assisting, manufacturing, and drafting. Short-Term Training offerings allow students to gain employable skills in just 3 to 12 weeks, are focused on industries with high employment growth such as truck driving and phlebotomy, and often allow students to ladder college credit into career-ready programs.

Both districts will also offer dual enrollment opportunities for high school students. Students from the local school districts can get a significant start on earning a college degree while they’re still in high school through this opportunity. Juniors and seniors can participate in dual enrollment at their local ISD and earn both high school and college credits by successfully completing courses.

Registration for all fall semester offerings is currently open and complete information, including courses and schedules, can be found online.

Mid’s main campuses are located in Harrison and Mt. Pleasant, with satellite locations in Alpena, Huron, Mecosta, Osceola, and Tuscola counties.
