COVID-19 UPDATE
In response to the COVID-19 risk, Rust Shaker has been cancelled. Future plans will be announced when available. Read the latest Mid Michigan College COVID-19 updates.
Mountain bike races are scheduled to return to Mid Michigan College’s Harrison Campus for the eleventh year in a row. The Rust Shaker Mountain Bike race takes place Saturday, April 25, and the Sweat Shaker race takes place Saturday, June 27.
Both races are held on the Harrison Campus trail system. Each race features divisions for every ability level, and the courses are designed to include wooded and hilly sections, long and gentle climbs, several areas wide enough for passing, and areas of steep, rough terrain.
Race day schedules are similar with registration open 8am-10am followed by a racers meeting at the start line with wave starts for all divisions kicking off at 10:30am. Lunch, giveaways, and awards follow at 12:30pm for Rust Shaker and at 1:30pm for Sweat Shaker. Lunch is included for all racers and non-racers can partake by making a small donation.
Nearly 120 riders participated in the 2019 Rust Shaker with proceeds benefiting the maintenance and improvement of Mid’s recreational facilities.
Sweat Shaker is a MMBA Championship Series Points Race, regularly featuring some of the top riders in the state. In 2019, nearly 250 racers participated with proceeds benefiting the maintenance and improvement of Mid’s recreational facilities.
