Mid Michigan Community College (MMCC) has selected Dr. Jennifer Fager to serve as the next Vice President of Academic Services. Dr. Fager currently serves as the director of university assessment at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and was selected to join MMCC after a nation-wide search.
“We are pleased to welcome Jennifer to our team,” noted Dr. Christine Hammond, MMCC President. “Her expertise, experience, and drive will be great assets as we continue to build high-quality academic programs.”
Dr. Fager holds a Bachelors degree in Political Science, a Masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction, and a Ph.D. in Administration, Curriculum, and Instruction, all from the University of Nebraska. She began her career in higher education as an assistant professor at South Dakota State University, and has subsequently held both faculty and administrative positions in public and private institutions in Wisconsin, Ohio, Michigan, and Nevada.
Highly regarded for her expertise in outcomes assessment, Dr. Fager has presented at national and regional conferences, provided consultation to higher education institutions, and led outcomes assessment efforts at the institutional level. In addition to her roles and responsibilities in higher education, she has also served as an elected member of her local school board.
“I appreciate the opportunities afforded me at UW-Eau Claire and the support and latitude provided me, but I am very excited about the opportunities that await me both professionally and personally,” said Fager. “The team at MMCC has been very welcoming, and I look forward to becoming part of the MMCC story.”
Dr. Fager joins MMCC at a very exciting time. In addition to launching a new Advanced Integrated Manufacturing degree, the College is expanding its online offerings, hiring new faculty members, and working to reduce textbook costs. The College's new academic pathways project provides a clear map for completing a certificate or degree. The academic division is also expanding apprenticeship and internship opportunities, to more closely tie the skills learned in the classroom to the skills needed on the job.
Dr. Fager will transition to her new role at MMCC in early July. Current VP of Academics, Dr. Michael Jankoviak will be retiring in February after 25 years at MMCC.
“We are so appreciative of Mike’s leadership and vision over the years,” said Dr. Hammond. “He has laid a solid foundation from which Jennifer can continue to build academic programs that prepare students to complete a degree and engage as vital members of the local workforce.”Dr. Fager welcomes feedback and input from the community as she works to meet local workforce needs.
