Each year, thousands of students attend Mid Michigan Community College (MMCC). About 81% of those students receive some form of financial aid. Although that aid can vary, scholarships from local donors play a critical role in filling the financial gap for students who need a little help.

One of those scholarships, the Bob and Rosemary Carter Academic Award, is unique. Like most scholarships, the student receives financial support. However, with this award, the student also receives a laptop donated by Nitro Computers in Harrison if they maintain their grade point average into their sophomore year.

This year’s recipient is Angela Henderson of Farwell, MI.

“I would like to say thank you to everyone who makes scholarships like the Bob & Rosemary Carter Scholarship possible. This scholarship will help me graduate from MMCC and allow me to continue building a bright future for my daughter and myself. I would also like to thank Nitro Computers for the new laptop; it is truly a necessity for any student. Lastly to all of my fellow students, don't just reach for your goals, push yourself to exceed them. The faculty and staff at Mid Michigan Community College have truly helped me see my potential and have encouraged me to go for it!” shared Henderson.

Gifts to the MMCC Foundation can provide much needed scholarships to deserving students. The MMCC Foundation also sponsors community events, funds the Students of Promise program, and provides resources for campus initiatives.

“Our generous donors have helped so many students with this and many other scholarships,” said Matt Miller, with MMCC’s Foundation. “Our students are so fortunate to have community members who make the goal of accessible education a priority.”
