Spam in Educator Mail - Microsoft chain letter
Recently an unfortunate email went out to students in the Educator email system. To combat this kind of thing, we have tried to make our spamming policy clear. However, each semester, we continue to get some from our own students. Next Winter, we will all be on a new email system which will make spamming like this more difficult and limit access to only people in your class. In the meantime,
- We are aware of the Microsoft chain letter that went out. No need to report it.
- Please do not respond to the student that sent it and especially a "reply-all" or you are then part of the problem and will be subject to the terms of the spamming policy. We will take care of it.
- We assure anyone who may have doubts, Microsoft will never cut you a check for sending out email. Here is the Snopes article on this particular email.
- If you want to send something out to more than one person, and are not sure if you should, contact the Helpdesk at x411 or send it to online@midmich.edu for our review.
