Now you know a bit about what we offer...but how do you actually pick classes?

  • girl with booksPrint your Program of Study and mark off courses as you complete them.  Note prerequisite codes.  Prerequisites must be completed prior to the course in which you wish to enroll.  Co-reqs should be taken along with (or prior to) the course as well.
  • See an advisor...especially if you're transferring or you don't know what you want to study.  Sometimes there isn't a program guide that fits well.  Usually we steer students that are undecided to general education requirements such as English, Math, Speech, and so on.  Our advisors welcome walk-ins and our Transfer page has details on course equivalencies, transfer guides, and more.
  • Follow  placement test results.  Program guides may call for higher or lower level courses than your placement results.  If you test lower, you must take the lower class first.  If you test higher, you have your choice.  Consult an advisor with questions.
  • Don't take too many electives.  Electives are courses you take for personal interest that may or may not count toward your program.  Taking too many electives could increase the time you spend working on that degree and affect your financial aid.
