Support the Lakers!
Quality athletics programs have an impact on the lives of students. Student athletes certainly benefit from the work ethic and team work fostered in sports, but the general student body also benefits from the sense of community and pride that comes with having an athletic program.
Funding for the MMCC Lakers athletic program is provided by a portion of the student activity fee paid by each MMCC student. However, as a new athletic program, we have a lot of basic needs that can't be funded through the fee.
Here are just a few of our current needs:
- Scholarships for student athletes. ($25,000)
- A soccer field on the Harrison Campus for home games. ($40,000)
- A passenger van for team transportation. ($35,000)
Plans for growth.
With just three teams, the MMCC Lakers are considered a club program. We must establish five active sports to join the Michigan Community College Athletic Association (MCCAA) and be recognized as a National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) program.
There is no way that the student activity fee will be able to support five sports. Contributions from the community will be critical to the viability of our program. With your support, we hope to expand our offerings over the next few years.
Help fund the future.
You can choose to support individual teams, or the program as a whole. Either way, you'll be building the foundation for a strong athletic program.
Gifts to the MMCC Lakers are tax deductible and naming opportunities may be available. Contact Matt Miller at 989-386-6600 or at mmiller@midmich.edu to talk about how you can support the MMCC Lakers.
